With close to 30 years of experience/agency leadership:
Experience: Aflac (District Manager) from 1995-1999, Allstate in 2000-2001, Colonial Life (2002 to 2020 in WA and then Alaska), evolving into a broker in 2019 (first in Alaska, then Oahu, Hawaii starting in 2021). My agency sold over 27 Million of premium written over those years winning numerous awards for helping others succeed. Opened over 400 new worksite accounts, leading as many as 20 reps in my agency, training my team on benefits as well as opening, managing and servicing accounts. Trained all of the benefit counselors in overall benefit knowledge as well as voluntary benefit sales, earning top awards.
Certifications: April 2022, earned the designation of "Certified Voluntary Benefit Specialist" (CVBS) by the Voluntary Benefit Association (VBA) which is the highest designation for understanding and mastering Voluntary Benefit principles and practices. Only one of 500 agents nationwide and the only insurance professional to hold this designation.
JULY 19-21, 2022: Panel Speaker at ADVANTAGE 2022 / Voluntary Week Virtual Conference. My topic was “Communicating the Value of Voluntary Employee Benefits to an Employer”. This was a three-day virtual online symposium with over 70 speakers across the industry sharing their best practices. Was proud to be able to contribute and learn from the other speakers. We all confirmed that 2022 is one of the BEST years to be in voluntary.
Continuing Education (CE) Course Instructor: Teaching other industry professionals is one of my passions. Recently taught over 80 agents/brokers in Hawaii “The Workplace Post-Omicron: Leveraging Voluntary Benefits to aid in Recruiting and Retention” as well as SHRM (Society for Human Resource Managers) CE: ”Workplace 2022: Leveraging Voluntary to aid in Recruiting & Retention” (nationwide). Over nine CE classes authored and taught over my 27 years in the industry.
JUNE 2022: Invited to be one of the six co-authors of the Voluntary Benefit Association (VBA’s) course: Certified Voluntary Benefit Specialist (CVBS).
